“Smith & Wesson’s John Myles, CSX product manager, understood the market and its customers,” Beaudreau said. The angles, curves and transitions are smooth and intentional. Although such features might become a part of the CSX line one day, they do not complement deep concealment. Did you notice that there isn’t an optic cut or a rail? That was no accident. That same small design parameter is also why the gun lacks two more obvious features. According to S&W, single-action internals allowed engineers to build a slightly smaller gun than with a striker mechanism. There are two features that command attention: First, the CSX is a hammer-fired single action. × The ambidextrous slide-release and manual safety levers are recessed into the alloy frame, but are still reachable and usable. 30 Super Carry for a bump in capacity and its close-to-9mm ballistics. S&W representatives won’t verify it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually see CSX chamber Federal’s new. I don’t think that the CSX is going to take away from sales of the Shield, but I believe that it could almost render the. With a 3.1-inch barrel, 4.6-inch height, 1-inch width, 6-inch length, and 19 1/2-ounce weight, it isn’t much different dimensionally than the M&P9 Shield Plus ($553), but in the hand it feels smaller, and I think it would be a great fit for pocket carry. Obviously, the CSX is a compact that’s purpose-built for deep concealment and close engagements. They can be changed with a small, flat-tip screwdriver. Two opposing-side magazine release buttons are included. However, I think that the CSX will do well, especially among those who understand it. Many of us have accepted the proliferation of polymer-frame pistols, and some of us even like what they’ve become. The choices S&W made for its design were bold. Given the success of the Shield and EZ series, the new CSX has a lot to live up to. “Well, to be honest, ‘CSX’ is not directly tied to the Chief’s Special, but it does offer a slight nod to that legacy,” said Corey Beaudreau, media relations manager for Smith & Wesson. Its diminutive design is well suited for deep concealment uses such as pocket carry. Although its dimensions are comparable to Smith & Wesson’s striker-fired Shield pistols, the CSX is actually a smaller gun. Is the CSX a step backward for Smith & Wesson? Or did they identify an underserved market? Either way, everyone is talking about the unexpected CSX. But “CSX” suggests that the name and lineage was top of mind as an engineer sketched out the plans for the new compact, aluminum-frame, double-stack, single-action auto in 9mm. In the 16 years since, S&W has not applied the label to another model, and we’re not certain that it was the company’s intention to do that here. Those compact pistols were discontinued in 2002 (CS40) and 2006 (CS9/CS45) ahead of the launch of the polymer-frame M&P series. Though written out on the left side of the slide, “Chiefs Special” was abbreviated in the model name as “CS” for the CS9, CS40 and CS45. The company moved to using model numbers in 1957, but the name reappeared in 1999 on its 3rd Generation semiautos. Smith & Wesson’s sales team asked police chiefs to vote on a name for the revolver, and “.38 Chief’s Special” won. The revolver was introduced at the 1950 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference. From its first use as a label for the J-Frame revolver, the “Chief’s Special” was an innovative approach to concealed carry.

They're tanky enough to slow down attackers and diverse enough to require switches. That's where the next best defenders come in. You might not always have the best defenders, your best defenders might already be busy defending other gyms, or you might simply want to mix things up from time to time. Best movesets: Confusion with Future Site.Tyranitar, though, can bite right through it. But when you get a good Espeon, you get psychic gold: A Pokémon that can reach 3000 CP and hits like Charles Xavier with a migraine, especially against Machamp. What are the best Pokémon Go movesets for Vaporeon?Įspeon takes some effort to evolve - you get a one-time name trick with "Sakura", or you have to walk 10 KM, earn 2 buddy candy, and then evolve at night. If you want to dissuade higher level and, yes, even lazier players from attacking your Gym, you want to have these Pokémon in your defensive lineup. They force attackers to go to the trouble of picking a broader lineup and switching more often. That's where Vaporeon, Lapras, and Espeon come in. You also have to dissuade people from attacking them. That means it's not just as simple as dropping your tanks and hoping for the best. With 3000+ Tyranitar and Dragonite just looking for something to do, they're also liable to get run over by the big generalist attackers. And since CP doesn't matter anymore, neither does Chansey's lack of CP. In other words, Chansey is a big, pink wall. They really need to find a way to just randomize spawns and fix gyms and we will have a better environment.Chansey is a slightly less tanky version of Blissey, which still makes it more tanky than almost all other Pokémon in the current game. If you don't play that way, you're at a disadvantage since you won't have as much candys/mons/gyms, etc.Īs a single player game, it doesn't matter, but since POGO isn't single player, it messes up your and other people's game. I've seen trackers for mons and didn't really care to use it, but if you are a deck collector, then I can see why you'd want to since most of those folks have already gotten bored/left already (my kids) so Niantic is sorta dropping the ball IMO to keep the game fun for a lot of folks.Īlso, having these exists means a LOT of people are using it since in Asian countries, that's how they probably ALL play (like during Lapras event). I think less people have issues with trackers since it doesn't affect them, but the gym situation is a problem as it affects your own game. If you don't respond, the computer will do it for you or someone "else" from your team can get a notice and they can defend, etc. Make it like a lot of games where if someone attacks your gym, you get a notice to defend it in real time, maybe turn based combat (this will never happen of course like Pokemon Duel). Gym meta needs to be completely redone.rankings, diversity in gyms, swipers, skill actually needed, etc. They should just randomize all spawns for everyone.this will break all mon scanners. I played Castaway Island when it was first released, and the ability to watch ads to replenish stamina and double so many rewards actually makes it a lot smoother of an experience instead of needing to leave it alone for long stretches at a time. Then again, developers gotta eat, and making games takes time and money itself. If you're looking at it purely as a free to play game, Castaway Paradise is a lot of fun, though how often it prompts you to watch ads (albeit for double rewards or other useful things) may irk some players. you already have unlimited water and stamina, though you'll still have to wait for timers and levels to unlock everything. The Steam version doesn't offer this, largely because you don't need it. You can ignore this, pay a monthly fee, or pay a flat fee and keep the status forever. If you're playing the mobile version, the game actually has the option for you to become a VIP, which is a subscription that gives you some free bonus items, access to special things in the catalog, discounts, and unlimited water and stamina. The blocky yet cuddly design is easy on the eyes and big on character and colour, making it one of those games that makes it hard to stay in a bad mood while you're playing. It's less designed for marathon sessions than to drop in on whenever you feel like it, and things like digging for shells or planting specific flowers to attract different bugs assures plenty to fiddle with even with you're not decorating your house or the town as a whole. Though the tone and style is just about perfect for kids, it's funny and engaging enough for players of any age. The island opens up a lot more as you find puzzle pieces, which grants you access to different characters and establishments. It's the sort of game that's made for whatever time you want out of it, and toddling around tweaking the town with decorations or catching things to give to the museum is pretty relaxing. Castaway Paradise is very low-key and casual, and frankly, I like it that way. You'll fish, you'll catch bugs, you'll farm, you'll get yelled at by an angry ape. For the most part, it's pretty apt, though while the seasons and events on Castaway Island do change over time, it's not quite as dynamic as Animal Crossing where its population is concerned. Steam users don't need to buy anything extra, having already paid for the game, and have permanent unlimited water and stamina, too!Ĭastaway Paradise's influences are pretty clear, enough so that "It's like Animal Crossing!" is actually mentioned in the official site's subtitle and Google description. Unlike gems, which are the primary form of currency for buying new items, pearls are given out more sparingly, though you can choose to pay for some via optional in-app purchases. While the game runs on its own when you're not playing it so you can leave and come back later if you're waiting for something to build or grow, you can spend pearls to instantly complete any task. Whether you're playing on a computer or a mobile device, most things in Castaway Paradise still take time. Level up, and you'll get a smattering of useful items, and unlock more content as you go. Most folk will have tasks for you to accomplish and will reward you accordingly, and completing objectives as well as generally puttering about will gain you experience points. Some items can only be used so many times before you need to wait for their stamina to refill, or on a mobile device, watch a short ad to refill it immediately. You can harvest fruit from trees, for instance, and turn around and sell it, or you can plant and water it to grow more over time. Though you don't have anything but the weeds on your back in the beginning, the generous islanders will quickly loan you the tools you need to get started. Just click (or tap!) people or objects to interact with them, or to move around the island. Playing Castaway Paradise is pretty simple. They want a steady, secure job with good benefits. People from the E quadrant hate the fear that comes with "economic uncertainty". He also can tell a person's quadrant by the words that they use.Į-Quadrant Words - Safe, secure job, good benefits You might have the intellectual knowledge to move from one quadrant to another, but you may not have the emotional ability to handle the ups and downs typical of a different quadrant. The quadrant you are in is really at the core of who you are. Kiyosaki says that he learned from his "rich dad" that anybody can move from one quadrant to another, but it's not as easy as just deciding to move. This chapter introduces the idea of how people can move from one quadrant to another. Chapter 2 - Different Quadrants, Different People As I'm sure many of you were told growing up, "Go to college and get a good job." Heck, isn't that the whole core of what we say as educators? "Make sure you go to college so you can get a good job." This statement is true for some people according to Mr. Everyone gives up their time for money, and the more money you make, the more time you give up. This first chapter doesn't really get into the finer points of the four quadrants, but something that stuck out to me immediately when I read through it the first time was that I had always just taken for granted that ALL people work a job. Kiyosaki ends the chapter stressing the point that no quadrant is better than another. Kiyosaki points out that his "poor dad", who earned his money on the left side, had to spend more time working as he made more money, but his "rich dad", who earned his money on the right side, worked less as he made more. Whereas his "rich dad" felt that money was important to him "living life" and found ways to earn money without giving up his time working for it. He recalled how his "poor dad" would tell him that money wasn't important to his life, yet he spent much of his life working for it. Kiyosaki refers back to his first and most popular book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad throughout this book. It really depends on your personal strengths and weaknesses. He says you can be rich or poor in ANY of the four quadrants. He doesn't go into detail yet, but if you bring in money, it comes from one of those four quadrants, BUT it doesn't mean that you can't bring in money from other quadrants as well. The image above shows these four quadrants. I feel like there's more that I'm forgetting about, but I do remember the ones in this list very fondly :Dįor me, it's Arknights. Is is the dopamine hit you get with each baloon pop? Is it how it just feels balanced (not sure if this is contentious lol)? Is it how you're rewarded for investing in the right towers correctly? I dunno. I haven't really thought about what makes it so good. Bloons is a franchise that has been honed over the years. Bloons TD6 - so incredibly robust and addictive. It's all top down view where the zombies and people are just glowy dots on your screen. The tower defense aspect comes from the placement of "units" that do different things that help you towards the goal of evacuation (the evac zone where a helicopter comes to pick you up, snipers, barricades, some units that shoot zombies). Atom Zombie Smasher - the objective is to evacuate people before too many of them die to zombies - so instead of defending a central point, you defend people in a map.Honestly I don't remember much about how exactly it's played, but I remember enjoying it. Has RPG elements where your towers/people can be upgraded (?). Defender's Quest - Each tower is a person with their unique abilities (?).Not to mention the fun physics that come with chucking enemies off the map. Orcs Must Die - is actually a mix of tower defense and hero defense, BUT the reason why its in this list is because the level design forces you to mix up your loadout! You can, of course, still go for your favorite towers, but there really are some levels that encourage the player to play differently. The base building aspect keeps you busy between waves, which is nice. The developer has been continuously updating this game since it came out. It's like Factorio but with more of a focus on tower defense. Mindustry - is a fusion between base building and tower defense (with some RTS elements).Having the player choose between resource acquisition and defense placement was also neat (you can place sunflowers, but that means you get less space for your towers). Had a really fresh take on tower defense mechanics, particularly when it came to tower placement. Plants vs Zombies - by which I mean first one by Pop Cap Games before they got acquired by EA.There's a new one called Element TD up on Steam but I haven't played it. I think what was good about it was the branching builds that you can invest in - this allowed you to beat the game in different ways by focusing on different elements/mix of elements. For each wave, the game rotates among the types of creeps. Each wave of creeps has different characteristics, such as immunity to certain towers, extra resistance to certain towers, and the abilities to spawn new creeps, move faster than normal, or fly over the towers instead of following the maze. The creeps come in waves at set intervals. Strategic placement of different turrets is key, since each turret has it's place and it's special ability. Not only can you affect the path that the creeps follow, but you will also need to manage your finances and decide on whether it is more viable to build more turrets or upgrade your existing ones. This allows for you to choose your own way of playing the game and it also allows for very interesting strategies. Unlike many other tower defense games, the path of the creeps themselves is not set instead, the towers built determine the path of the creeps, who take the shortest path they can find to the exit. Desktop Tower Defense does not follow the generic Tower Defense game style.
